Law of Attraction Lesson 5
Our thoughts, emotions and feelings act as a powerful magnet, attracting circumstances into our lives. Whether these circumstances are positive or negative is completely dependent on how we think!
The Law of Attraction a quick re-cap;
Simply stated, the Law of Attraction says that we attract into our lives, that upon which we place our dominant thoughts. In other words, if we focus predominantly on abundance, solutions and positive outcomes then that is exactly what we will attract back into our lives. Nice!
There is a dangerous flip side to this law however – if we focus on lack, problems and negative outcomes, then that is exactly what we will attract.
You may have heard of Earl Nightingale. Known today as the father of modern day self-help, Earl, while working in the insurance business back in the mid 1950’s, cut a record called ‘The Strangest Secret’. The purpose of this record was to provide some training for his staff while he was travelling on business. Earl’s strangest secret was simply this:
“We become what we think about most of the time!”
This ‘secret’ aligns perfectly with the Law of Attraction and acts as a constant reminder that we must learn to control our thoughts. Truthfully, our own thoughts are the only things in life over which we have complete control. The challenge is to keep them in control and not let them run rampant with negativity.
For an example of the power of the Law of Attraction, you need look no further than your own life. Have you ever had one of those days, where everything seems to go wrong? From the cold shower to the burnt toast to the speeding ticket on the way to the office, to the grouchy boss, to the difficult customer, we have all experienced those days. It all starts with the way we think. Our thought patterns attract the first negative experience. This experience then puts us in a negative frame of mind which works to attract further “bad” situations. The more we focus on the “bad day” we are having, the worse things get!
The solution is to change our frame of reference. Take the negative emotions and change them to be either positive or at least neutral. Look for the lesson in every situation. Learning to laugh at ourselves is another great way to change our reference point. If we break the cycle of negativity, things will begin to turn around almost immediately.
What You Can Do?
There are two things that you can start doing immediately that will help you to harness the awesome power of the Law of Attraction:
1. Ask yourself the question: “Do I focus on Lack or Abundance (or stated another way, ‘Am I problem-focused or solution-focused”)? If you answered, ‘Lack / Problems’ then set out to immediately change your frame of reference. Change your habits and thought patterns to be more positive and solution-focused.
2. Take full responsibility for whatever is happening in your life, be it good or bad. You have attracted the good as well as the bad, so taking responsibility will allow you to make the choice to change your thinking.
Positive thinking on it’s own will not solve all of your problems, however it is one of a series of things that we all have the power to implement which will get us on the path to leading the life we want.
If you could stay focused on one thing and imagined the excitement you would feel if you already had it, it would show up in your life in a relatively short time.
The world you see is only a mirror of all the thoughts you have inside of you. Change your thoughts and you change the perception of your world. Quantum physics teaches us that nothing exists independently of your perception of it. In actuality you get to choose what you see. That is why several people observing the same thing each have different opinions as to what really happened.
If you truly want to manifest your desires you need to know what you really want. The more definitive you can be, the easier it will be to reach your goal.
Next in importance is the more enthused, excited and emotionally charged you are about something, the faster you will see it show up in your life. Next, you have to allow it to come into your life. What I mean by this is not to expect it to come in a certain way, the when, where or how. Just let it flow into your life.
And lastly, you should have a feeling of gratitude, or thankfulness in advance, to be grateful before and for the thing that you want.
Do you sometimes observe your mind? In the ancient Vedic scripture Bhagavad-Gita, Krishna says to Arjuna “One must deliver himself with the help of his mind, and not degrade himself. The mind is the friend of the conditioned soul, and his enemy as well. For him who has conquered the mind, the mind is the best of friends; but for one who has failed to do so, his mind will remain the greatest enemy.”
When you start observing your mind first thing you might notice is that you don’t control it. How many times you have read something, sometimes even trying to really concentrate on the subject, but then you caught yourself thinking about something completely different at the same time?
You can observe your mind, because you are not your mind, as you are not your body. As you know, to manifest what you want you need to control your mind. You need to concentrate, meditate and visualize often. You need to focus on the things you want to manifest. If you allow your mind to jump freely from one subject to another, like a monkey from tree to tree, it will take you long time to achieve your goals.
One aspect of this is the importance of living in the NOW. You may notice that we often think about the past, something I am guilty of myself. When we think about the past we tend to think about “good old days”. I now have to tell you there are no “good old days”. We simply forget about bad times and think about good times mostly, because it allows us to escape from the present reality and live in happy illusion.
The point is that the past, happy or sad is in the past. We can’t change it. It also doesn’t have any value for our manifesting purposes. Of course we can hopefully learn from our past mistakes, but that’s it, otherwise dwelling on the past is just a waste of time.
If we don’t think about the past we usually think about the future. Often we are afraid of the future, sometimes we look at the future with hope. But the future is made in the present. We need to start living in the present and concentrate on the present. We need to be happy now.
If we are happy now, we build our happy future. Because of that it is very important to gradually control the mind and to live in the now; try to be happy now.
We can easily change our mind’s states. We can listen to some good music which we like, we can think about someone we love or we can look at something beautiful. Whatever helps you to feel happy, and the most important we can visualize the things we want in the future as already achieved.
A good way to get in the good mood is to do some simple yogic breathing exercises, which very quickly help to achieve peace and control of the mind. Watch some of the free video’s on You Tube at this Link: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=yogic+breathing+exercises&search_type=&aq=f
Another good way is to practice gratitude for the things you have and the things you would like to have. You cannot feel unhappy when you feel grateful.
There are many different methods, but to start manifesting the things you want easily and quickly it’s good to find a good mentor or course, and follow the instructions, hence this blog. Reading about manifestation, the law of attraction and self improvement is always good, but the best is to take action and apply what you have learned.
